The apparel industry leaves a deep imprint, impacting not only the planet, but also the people who produce and consume its products, and the supply-chains are often long and murky. We commit to do our part by sourcing in accordance with leading social and environmental standards and by working to increase traceability and transparency.
Since day one, we’ve made informed choices in all of our processes, considering both people and the planet. From decisions on design, materials and production, to our packaging, marketing and sales policies, we are keen to find ways in which to account for and potentially limit our impact on the planetary boundaries. That said, we are far from perfect. But we aim big and bold! And we are committed to be transparent along the way.
Where we're at
Being a start-up, it’s limited how big an impact we can make just yet. However, we wish to do what we can. Here’s what we’ve done so far:
- Functional products of high quality. We’ve developed a product for periods and leaks that is reusable and made of quality fabrics, and which replaces or minimises the need for single-use disposable plastic products.
- Safe materials. We only use materials that are as a minimum either GOTS- or OEKO-TEX-certified, and we limit our use of synthetic materials to being only the absolute functional minimum.
- Strict supply chain requirements and traceability. We only work with manufacturers that live up to leading social and environmental standards, and we prioritise local and regional suppliers. We work hard to trace our supply chain as detailed as possible and as many tiers down, we can.
- Informed consumption. We educate our customers on materials and production in the garment industry, provide information on product composition and production on our webshop, avoid sales, and encourage customers to only buy what they need.
- Packaging and shipping. We ship in weather-resistant kraft paper envelopes, and all our packaging items are made with acid-free recycled FSC-certified paper, and the printing is off-setted and done with soy-based ink, so everything is home compostable.
- Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Impact Strategy. We have developed an internal strategy with measurable goals aligned with our company goals and values.
Where we're going
Between now and the end of 2025, we will:
- Optimise our supply chain: map out gaps and short-comings, visit and engage with suppliers around ways to do (even) better, and create a supplier strategy for improvements.
- Initiate annual due diligence assessment.
- Work towards social and environmental certification for our products and company.
